Try it Thursday #15 - Large Origami Gift Pouch featuring Stampin' Up! Naturally Eclectic Designer Series Paper

Today's "Try it Thursday" create is an origami gift pouch which I used for my mother in laws gift on Mothers Day. It is quite a large pocket with the pocket portion measuring 13cm x 17.5cm (5" x 7") and made from a 12" x 12" piece of designer series paper.
One thing the video didn't say clearly to me was to after you fold the DSP in half, fold the right hand side of the triangle over to the 18cm (7") mark and then it is a lot easier to make your left hand fold. (I originally tried folding it at 6" and it was an awkward shape that had bits of paper where they shouldn't have been!)

As I mentioned in this post, I don't own any mothers day stamps so I printed a sentiment and used framelits to cut it out.

Stampin' Up! XXL Gift Bag made with Gift Bag Punch Board and Delightful Daisy DSP - Try it Thursday #14

Today's Try is Thursday post is using the Gift Bag Punch Board and Delightful Daisy designer series paper and I've made an XXL gift bag with 2 sheets of 12 x 12 paper. If you are anything like me, I have a stash of designer series paper I have been hoarding (or saving for a special project) and decided it was high time I put some to use. 
I used the 12 x 12 sheets and followed this video (The only difference was the video used A4 cardstock, but it worked the same with 12 x 12 designer series paper).


The finished bag measures 22cm h x 23.5cm w x 5cm d (8 5/8" x 9 1/4" x 2") 

A strip of so saffron cardstock around the gift bag top finishes the gift bag off (and also strengthens the bag top) and I used some retired 5/8" so saffron ribbon for the handles.

Try it Thursday #13 Gift Bag Punch Board

Wow, it has been over a year since I did my last "Try it Thursday" post. How did that time disappear so fast?
Today's Try it Thursday post features an idea from Caroline Van Der Straaten. She had a fabulous video on using the Gift Bag Punch Board to make a funky little bag (only problem is the video is in Dutch but enough explanation is given that you should be able to follow along.) 

I used the stunning painted with love speciality designer seres paper that is featured on the last chance products list. Grab your while you can!

My younger daughter saw the bags on my desk and was excited and wants me to make blue versions for her lolly bags for her upcoming birthday party. Hmmm, we will see.

Stampin' Up! Easter Blog Hop

I mentioned sale-a-bration earlier in my post and I have used the amazing sparkly FREE (with purchase of $90+) springtime foils designer series paper in my off the page project. It comes as a white cardstock (with foil design) and I used my brayer and pool party inkpad to recolour the cardstock, hence the blue/silver strip pattern. I added a bunch of punched shapes to create a punched art bunny jar perfect for my nephews Easter gift.

Of course no bunny should be without a tail, so I added a pom pom. 

To complete the Easter egg jar, I made a gift tag featuring the mini bunny from "Pick a Pattern" designer series paper. As I don't own any Easter themed stamps or sentiments, using "Happy" from one of my many birthday sentiments filled half the bill along with the labeler alphabet completing the sentiment.

This month, we celebrated my mum's 60th birthday. We had lots of extended family over as it was also a late Christmas gathering.
I was in charge of cake (cupcakes as they were a few younger kids) and making the card (no surprise there).
Being a special birthday, I pulled out my favourite design of late, a mini album card style featuring information for the persons year of birth. The sweet soiree speciality designer series paper (DSP) made putting the card together a breeze. With the pops of silver in the DSP, it certainly made for an elegant looking card.

Stampin' Up! Silver Mini Gable Box with Sweet Soiree Suite Make n Take

Make n take 1:
Back in November I attended an On Stage Local event in Melbourne. At any Stampin' Up! event like On Stage we always have make n takes to create. I am hopeless and usually never create them and they sit here at home doing nothing as they are still in their plastic casing. I'm trying to make an effort to be better than that and are even stamping some of the make n takes at the event and then I bring them home and add my own touch to them. 
As you can see below, this is the image we receive from Stampin' Up! and have all the supplies available to create it as pictured.

To dress the mini gable box up from the basic version, I added an old olive scalloped circle behind the stamped image with some basic rhinestone jewels on the centre of the flowers.

2017 Nephew Ornaments

As per pervious years, I helped my sister with ornaments of her boys to give to family. My 5 year old nephew wrote Merry Christmas. He did a great job I think! I can't wait to compare next years writing after a year of primary school under his belt.
