Stampin' Up! Car Shaped 18th Birthday Card

My eldest daughter turned 18 yesterday and as she brought her first car last week I made her a car shaped card for her birthday. I tried to make it look just like her car (which she has named Gary). I grabbed a couple of retired supplies (calendar alphabet and numbers) for the background stamping and messages die as it fit perfectly around the Happy Birthday stamp from Artistically inked. The car shape is a file from my electronic die cutting machine.

Stampin' Up! Balmy Blue Diagonal Double Fold Card

Hi and welcome to another round of the colour creations blog hop. 
For this weeks blog hop, we are focusing on the colour, Balmy Blue
If you remember, from previous years I like to work with the color coach Stampin' Up! provides to add a challenge to my card creations.


This week, I have chosen Balmy Blue, Night of Navy and Granny Apple Green from the colour coach to work with. 
Each time I have done a balmy blue blog hop, I can't help myself, I have always chosen the same colour combination. This year, I decided to make a card for my nephew Hunter and since his favourite colour is green I had no choice but to go with the same colour combination again! Hopefully, he likes the diagonal double fold card, it is a fun fold. I originally had an opps when I cut the DSP and cut it on the wrong angle as I had intended the card to be a vertical card not horizontal. Not wanting to waste the DSP, I went with it anyway.

The DSP I have uses is from the Abstract Beauty 4" x 6" pack (it's on the last chance product list for $18.20!) and the granny apple green is from last years Brights design (my this years pack hasn't arrived yet). I die cut the 5 using my electronic die cut machine and the circle/scalloped circle is from the layering circles dies. The Happy Birthday sentiment is from Art Gallery stamp set.

Stampin' Up! Happiest of Birthdays Stitched Stars Birthday Card

My kids have been going to A LOT of birthday parties lately especially 17ths and 18ths and I have been whipping up birthday cards like no tomorrow. This is one of the cards I made for a friend of Nikki's. Her request was to use MANY stars. How do you think I did? 

I stamped the basic white background with the star stamp from the Christmas Whimsy card kit in smoky slate ink. I added flecks of ink in balmy blue, granny apple green and highland heather onto the basic white background also so it wasn't so stark before adding the star die cuts. To complete the card I added the sentiment from happiest of birthdays and some random adhesive stars that have since retired that I found in my stash.

Both the Happiest of Birthdays stamp set $33.00 and Stitched Stars dies $66.00 $39.60 are on the Last Chance product list. I am really going to miss the Happiest of Birthdays stamp set, it is probably one of my most favourite birthday stamp sets ever. Do you have a favourite birthday stamp set?

Stampin' Up! Birthday Card with In the Wild DSP

Today, we have week eight of the colour creations blog hop. We have returned to the traditional blog hop like a circle, for this new round so we hop you enjoy blog hoping round to everyone's blog. You may have found me via Catherine Proctor's blog. If not that's ok! Hi and welcome! 

For this weeks blog hop, we are focusing on the colour, cajun craze.
I originally picked cajun craze, so saffron and old olive from the colour coach to work from this week. Then I decided I wanted to work with the In the Wild DSP and and tired to keep my colour choices in mind with my cardstock swatch and have gone with cajun craze, crushed curry and evening evergreen instead.

I'm working with the In the Wild DSP this week for two reasons, 1. It is one of the DSP's available at 15% off till August 2nd and 2. I rarely use a lot of DSP and come the end of the catalogue I tend to have a stash of unused DSP. I am trying to get better at using my stash of DSP.
I got the In the Wild DSP in a DSP share (so it wasn't a full pack I had to work with) and I had no other products from the suite to use but I took it on as a challenge to create a card for today. After I fussy cut the cajun craze tiger out and because I didn't leave a very large white border, I felt the tiger was competing with the colour leaf DSP I was using. I have used a piece of vellum over the top of the DSP as an overlay to tone down the colours. The vellum is held in place by hidden adhesive under the tiger, happy birthday sentiment and matt black dots.
The happy birthday sentiment is from artistically inked stamp set and I used the messages die to die cut the sentiment birthday sentiment. The matt black dots add some visual interest and I think make it look like the tiger is looking for food.

Inside card - I actually like the inside of the card better than the card front but as it didn't have a lot of cajun craze on it I didn't seperate it and use it for another cajun craze card. I typed the words on my computer leaving a space for the playful alphabet die cut word "wild".

Stampin' Up! DSP 18th Birthday Pocket with In Good Taste DSP

My eldest son turned 18 yesterday and not all his presents arrived in time and thanks to being in Lockdown 5.0 there was not a lot we could do for his big celebration. I made a little DSP origami pocket to put images of his missing presents and to stash some cash. I used the In Good Taste DSP which is on special at the moment till August 2nd for 15% off, now $31.45 instead of $37! Its a larger than normal pack of DSP with 24 sheets of 12" x 12" papers, 2 each of 12 designs.

Stampin' Up! Hats Off Bundle Four Year Old Birthday Card

For this weeks blog hop, we are focusing on the colour, bermuda bay.
I have chosen bermuda Bay, rich razzleberry and crushed curry from the colour coach to work from this week. 


My youngest nephew Hunter turned 4 on Monday and I made my bermuda bay card for him. I turned to the hats off bundle to create a number 4 hat and personalised the card with Hunter's name as he is now recognising that his name starts with H. I added stars from the stitched stars dies and used the messages die to cut out the sentiment from artificially inked.

Stampin' Up! Archery Birthday Card with Layering Circle Dies

Today, my daughter turns 14 and has recently picked up a new sport, Archery. I used it as the basis for her card and made a very basic punch art card. Although, you'd almost have to call it a die art card with all the layering circle dies used.
Like I said, I've used lots of layering circles dies and the retired 3/4" and 1/2" circle punches for the archery scoring rings. I also used the retiring itty bitty birthdays stamp set and classic label punch which have both sold out from the last chance product sale.

Stampin' Up! Dude You're How Old Birthday Card with Playful Alphabet Dies and Outlined Die Cut Letters

Today's card for Masculine Monday is titled "Dude, you're how old??" I made it for my nephew who will be 23 later this year. I made it in advance as it is a sample for this months techniques class, outlined die cut letters. 

My card uses a lot of retiring products and sadly, many which had already sold out from the Last Chance Product Sale but happy dies is still available (it's the only retiring product I've used that hasn't sold out!) Stampin' Up! Game On Slider Chocolate Slider Box

This weeks Masculine Monday creation is a chocolate slider box featuring game on stamp set. If you saw my colour creations purple posy post the other week, this is another one I have aimed for teenagers but it would also work older men as well. 

I have used real red ribbon for my belly band around the smoky slate chocolate slider box as it was a lot easier than getting the scores perfect and it matched the slider motion perfectly as well! I heat embossed the chess pieces in clear embossing powder to make them stand out on the smoky slate cardstock. I popped both the chess pieces and the sentiment up on stampin' dimensionals.

Stampin' Up! Playful Alphabet Chocolate Slider Box with Playing with Patterns DSP

Our thirty ninth colour we are focusing on for the colour collections blog hop is "purple posy" from the 2019 - 2021 in color collection. I have chosen purple posy, pool party and smoky slate from the colour coach to work with today for my creation. 
I have made a chocolate slider box this week instead of a card. I find they are perfect to have on hand for teenagers to hand out with some cash inside (taped to the block of chocolate) for birthdays. It's more than just cash but not a huge embarrassing (or unwanted gift) to hand over.
I've made the slider box in purple posy cardstock and have used the gorgeous grape inkpad and dauber to add some depth to the edges (I've also use gorgeous grape ink and dauber on the playing with patterns DSP). I matted the purple posy DSP with smoky slate cardstock and used the playful alphabet dies with foam adhesive sheets for dimension and height. I also added in my faux resin dots in purple posy onto the DSP. 
I finished off the chocolate slider box with a mini gift card and purple posy linen thread to act as the slider with pool party cardstock as the handle.
