Our forty ninth colour we are focusing on for the colour collections blog hop is "soft sea foam" from the subtles collection. I have chosen soft sea foam, granny apple green and shaded spruce from the colour coach to work with today for my creation.
The trio of green colours screamed Christmas tree to me and that is why I am making Christmas cards in May! I have made two cards for today as what I had originally planned I wasn't 100% happy with and what I was going to use for inside the card looked really good and I thought deserved to be on the front of the card not hidden on the inside!
Card one, was my original card. I think the flirty flamingo background is too strong for the background and needs to be toned down with a vellum overlay or a softer colour but my stitched triangle tree was always stuck in place so I tried to lighten it up with a white sentiment strip and some champagne rhinestone jewels.
Card 2, also has a stitched tree and a flirty flamingo brights DSP (like card 1) only everything is in a smaller proportion and there is a lot of white space. The sentiment is the again the same (from Inspired Thoughts stamp set) only I have heat embossed this in white embossing powder on basic black cardstock and used the layering circle dies with it popped up with Stampin' dimensionals.
With envelope
Inside card - I kept very basic but again used Inspired Thoughts stamp set and stitched triangles dies

Ros, this is such a great post (and a great card) because you've explained the design process so well and how a card not turning out like you hoped can be the catalyst for a fantastic card - I love what you've done!

Great idea Ros using the triangle pieces in the tree. I’m really drawn to the second card and particularly love that sentiment as the focal point on the tree.

Oh no! Beautiful card Ros but I’m definitely not ready to think about Christmas yet!

I think that your cards look great! I love the Flirty Flamingo background on the first card.

I especially love your second card, Ros; I think the colour proportions are more balanced. Love that sentiment, and it looks especially good white-embossed on black. You always make colour combinations, that I baulk a bit at, work so well!

Oh my goodness, Christmas cards in May, wowsers!
I actually like the Flirty Flamingo DSP, it makes your tree pop!

I love both your cards Ros. I really like the Flirty Flamingo background on card 1. and the smaller band of it on card 2. I think the colour combo works well.
