Stampin' Up! Rice Background ATC

In July for our team ATC's we have the rice background theme for our monthly ATC's (I'm a bit behind on blogging them!). I went with a sea theme for mine and used the sea of textures stamp set to complete my ATC. I tried to make my octopus multi coloured with melon mambo and pumpkin pie inks and did this by using my stamparatus and sponge daubers.  I added pumpkin pie ink to my stamp randomly using the sponge dauber and stamped the octopus stamp. I then applied melon mambo using the sponge dauber trying to fill in the blank areas and stamped the octopus stamp again. I kept on repeating this and alternating the colouring until I was happy with the result. By alternating between the two colours and by using the sponge daubers as well, it also helped blend the two colours and not leave any obvious "colour lines".   

I die cut a "net" from crumb cake cardstock and scrunched it up and flattened it out slightly for texture. I also die cut some fishes on the right hand side and used silver foil behind the die cut for the "school of fish".


I know I hid a lot of the rice background texture with my die cuts but I also love the shades of blue/purple I was able to achieve to create the water background.

Stampin' Up! So Many Stars Catalogue CASE With A Twist

We all know how amazing Stampin' Up! catalogues are don't we? Not only do they show you their fabulous stamp sets at full size but they have amazing card samples in their catalogues as well. My card today is CASED from the current Holiday catalogue on page 10 and I of course added a few more layers (because that is what I do) but I also added a little twist. Stampin' Up! Elfie Post Card Christmas Card

This is one of the two Elfie Christmas cards made in my Elfie Christmas card class last month. How cute are the cheeky little elves? 
I used a free postcard I found online for my background and stamped and coloured the elves with Stampin' Blends. The sentiments are from the Christmas gleaming stamp set and the stamparatus made placement and re-inking a breeze. (I stamped both sentiments in call me clover before deciding to stamp Merry Christmas in red and pop it up with dimensionals.)
I used the now retired postage stamp punch for create a faux postage stamp featuring the no peaking elf stamp. Doesn't it create the sweetest little postage stamp?

Stampin' Up! Joseph's Coat ATC

Have you ever had a go at making ATC's (Artist Trading Cards?) I love making them, the smaller sizes and the challenge it provides me, not to mention, how they can easily be placed onto a card if you happen to make a few spare, like I try to do when I make them for our team swap (if I am not making them last minute!) The only problem with ATC's is photographing them for my blog! I find them much harder to photograph because they don't stand up like a card does and I have a bunch of them to share with you.

Our theme for May was Joesph's Coat and I love the colours I used (I did mention I am behind in sharing my ATC's!)
Although, when I am stumped for colours, I turn to my color coach Stampin' Up! provided and use it as my starting point. For my ATC's I obviously went with coastal cabana, melon mambo and gorgeous grape. I have used these colours before on another card as well. I seem to pick a trio of colours from a color coach and use it a few times!  
I made my Joseph's Coat pieces with a 1 1/2" circle and used the coastal cabana, melon mambo and gorgeous grape inks with night of navy ink to highlight to embossed sections. A basic rhinestone and silver glimmer cardstock add in a touch of bling. I also stamped the dotty stamp from birthday backgrounds on the coastal cabana cardstock in coastal cabana ink for a tone on tone look so the cardstock wasn't just plain looking but I could still keep the focus my Joseph's Coat piece.
