Lego birthday cakes and party games

Finishing up with my creations for Drew's Lego birthday with his birthday cakes (one on his birthday and the other for his party).

The first one was a supposed to  be a Lego head but cream cheese icing is not a good combo with a shaped cake (hence why there isn't a close up picture.)

Cake 2 was a #7 made to look like a Lego board with chocolate Lego bricks.

Some of the Lego themed games we played at Drew's party were:

Duplo block game (before the party, hide 21 blocks, 10 of two different colours and 1 block of another colour and divide everyone into two teams. Winning team is the one to find all their colour blocks and the one other coloured block). Worked out great as we had 11 kids!

Move lego pieces off the plate using a straw (and no hands) onto the table

Draw Lego faces onto plastic plates (we used a Sharpie marker and drew on the backside of the plates before the kids ate)

Throw Lego pieces into a Lego head (did this in groups and had a champions round) - no photos of this one, sorry!

Pass the parcel, Lego style (we passed a large Duplo block around) - again, no photos sorry.

I also made Lego cookies and they were a hit. Almost all gone before a photo was taken.

That just about wraps up Drewie's party. He had a ball and I for one, enjoyed it, but am glad my kids birthdays are over for the year :)

Lego birthday card

Another of my creations for Drew's Lego themed birthday is his birthday card.

For the card, I used this guy;   as a guide and punched out shapes for some of the other bits. Lego guy image was found here.

Lego lolly bags

Continuing on with the Lego creations from Drew's birthday, these are the two styles of lolly bags I made (one set for school and the other for his party).

The lego head is a bag-a-lope, made from an A5 envelope.

Craft and sewing show

This week, myself and fellow demonstrators, will at the Craft and Sewing show (at Caulfield Racecourse. We will be demostrating and sharing our love for Stampin' Up!

The craft show is on from Thursday through to Sunday, but I will only be on the Stampin' Up! stand on Friday.

Card 4 of 5 from October's Making Merry Monday.

Drew's 7th birthday

Mister Drewie recently turned 7 and it was his turn for a party this year. Part of the reason blogging hasn't been as frequent of late.

I decided a Lego theme would be very appropriate for my little man as he loves his Lego.

I made Lego invitations, card, lolly bags (times two) and even a Lego themed cake. While I recover from his party (no not really, I have a busy week with a ladies night in, a stall at Caulfield racecourse and a workshop in the next 7 days) I'll drag out the creations I made over the next few days.

I found this free printable here which I used inside the invitation (along with lego font) to customise the inside.

Late MMM #33

When you can't sleep, one crawls out of bed at 4am in the morning to make the late Making Merry Monday card. Apologises for not posting yesterday but running around to the doctors and dealing with sick/injured kiddies don't not make for easy crafting. In the early hours of the morning, it is certainly peaceful and far easier to craft :D
