Sketch time again. Our final sketch for this year and seeing as it is New Year's Eve when my post goes live, I'd like to wish everyone a happy new year and I hope 2011 brings all that you want.

Today's sketch is designed by Jennifer Weide.

 

My take on the sketch... a nice and simple one this week. Kind of good as I am well and truly in holidays mode... My husband has less than a week left before he is back at work and more of a "normal" schedule happens in our house.

I fully intended on doing a "top 10" scrapbook layouts from 2010 also but two of my fav's are off being published and the issue/s haven't come out yet so I can't post the layouts online. Not being able to add in two of the best I felt the "top 10" wouldn't be right without them.

Christmas run down

Our Christmas celebrations this year was divided into five parts! Yes, FIVE! We first off had breakfast with my in laws, lunch with my mum, dinner at our house with the in laws again and on boxing day celebrated with my dad and my mum (again) but for all Boxing Day celebrations my brother and niece were able to join us.

The kids gave hubby and I this photo of them posing with Santa.

 
They each told Santa what they wanted and even if they didn't receive it this year, they were most happy with their gifts. They each received a huge pile of gifts after being given presents from Santa, three sets of grandparents, great grandmother and four aunts/uncles.

Favourite gifts the kids received were

Josh - Watch, Ripstick, Monopoly game, a huge Bionicle

Nikki - Wii Glee karoke revolution

Drew - Remote control spider, lego

Bella - A baby doll she has named "Amy"

I made each member of our extended family an ornament with a photo of the children as their "card" this year. I also made a few table runners as gifts for a few people (using my big shot and the scallop square die from the Summer Mini idea book and catalogue.)

 

This is the photo on each ornament (or the photo included with the cards I sent out this year with a blurb on the back of what each one of us has done this past year).

Today was the last day of school for kids in Melbourne, Victoria, and boy are my kids excited! They are home for 7, yes, SEVEN weeks of school holidays. The kids haven't had 7 weeks of school in a long time or ever at all. With me being sick of late (and my blog being quite neglected) I have been itching for a chance to have a play and make something. I had to bust out and create another Christmas card again this week. Angela Walters sketch was screaming Christmas at me *grin*

Gifted Stamp-a-memory challange

Challenge time over at Stamp-a-memory. Criteria this month is to create a gift (including photos) or scrap a layout about a gift.

I was wracking my brain for ages until I remembered a decoration my mum made for our neighbours years ago. It was a decoration that was made basically from old Christmas cards cut into circles.

Using the idea, I made two versions, one just like my mum made all those years ago with Christmas cards and the other by stamping and making my own paper. Both versions have a photo of a child wearing a Christmas hat as they are thank you gifts for them to give to their teachers on the last day of school/kinder.

On the back of the photo it says "thank you for helping me grow this year" the child's name (in their handwriting) and 2010

More square scallop die

I have been giving my sewing machine some love of late and using it on fabric (instead of the normal for me and sewing on paper/cardstock). I made this little bag as a test run before I made my table runner and the girls love it. They want one each but I am hoarding it for a gift. I think it will look fabulous as a gift bag with a birthday present inside. What do you think?

  

Stamp club

Last night was to be our final stamp club for the year but with me being sick, I had to cancel it. So disappointing. I still want to share with you one of the projects I designed for it though. Pictured is the Santa mini milk carton.... I think is it so cute. Don't you?

Sketch time again and with the Christmas festive happenings in full swing, I had to make another Christmas card. Using the sketch provided by Tina Taves.

A nice simple card for me this week. I have been unwell and had tests to see if I had whooping cough. I got the results back today and thank goodness I don't. Not sure what is causing me to be unwell though.
