Art with heart, autumn/winter mini catalogue blog hop

Welcome to yet another blog hop. Today’s blog hop is involving participants from the "Art with Heart" team which is managed by Claire Daly. Only a small number of us are participating in todays blog hop but there is actually over 90 demonstrators  in the “Art with Heart” team  and we are spread all over Australia. For our third blog hop, we are celebrating the new Autumn/Winter mini catalogue. I have decided to make a masculine birthday card this time. I tend to find male cards the hardest of all but it was quite easy when using the new autumn traditions designer series paper.

Making Merry Monday #9 and anniversary card

I'll begin with my usual MMM card and then I'll move onto my wedding anniversary.

This past weekend was my first wedding anniversary. Nat and I holidayed at home and sent the kids to stay with relatives for two nights. We had a great time and it was lovely to have uninterrupted adult time! One downside though, we both woke up at 8am on Saturday morning. That is a slight sleep in but with no kids to wake us up, it was a crazy time to be getting up. It did allow us to get an early start on the day, even if it meant we had to have nanna naps in the afternoon... a little sad, but yet again a nap without being woke up by yelling etc. was nice. We went to the strawberry farm in Main Ridge and OMG, they are the most divine strawberries there. It is almost the end of the main season so towards the end of the year I plan on heading back there with the rest of the family, they'll love it. Not to mention the Red Hill show that was on also (we didn't stop, only doing a drive by) but we did stop off at the Critenden Estate. It was the wine, Nat got me especially for our wedding (and what I have been saving for our anniversary) so it was ironic that we saw it as we drove past. We have been talking about having a meal at Sofias forever so tonight we finally did. Service was fast but as with many Italian eateries, it was quiet loud. That and we were also seated next to a table where a lady have a very loud laugh... We hired a couple of movies and settled in for a quite night at home. One of the movies we watched was "Whip It". Roller derby looks like loads of fun but I am a whimp and couldn't hack it so won't be trying it anytime soon! LOL, Saw "The Blind Side" at the movies and OMG, it was a fantastic movie. I can't wait to try and track down a copy of the book. Does anyone know if the book is actually called "The Blind Side?" Finished off the weekend with a quiet arvo at my mum's house catching up with my brother and celebrating my SIL's birthday.

I also made a small gift for Nat using an eyechart as inspiration. The message reads "Happy first wedding anniversary". It was my take on the 'paper' theme for first wedding anniversary.

I used the same paper that I made my name tags out of for the wedding (thank godness I had some left) and I plan on hanging it on the wall with a handmade canvas I made (featured here) along with the two wedding canvases currently hanging on the wall (they currently look a little naked and bare around them!) Wedding photos by Kipindi Photography. Also there is a sneak peak of some new products from the Autumn/Winter mini catalogue used on the eyechart frame. Any ideas what they might be???

I recently did a workshop for my mother-in-law and she wanted to see some more uses for the pick a petal stamp set she owned. Here is what I came up with and what the ladies played with and made for their make 'n takes.

Mothers day card

As well as making the mothers day card as a sample I also made it as a card to send to the armed forces (fellow demonstrator Nikki Sadler put out a call). As mother's day is one of my guilty pleasures I feel sorry for those mothers that husbands are away serving our country.

Advanced box class

I spent yesterday teaching (advanced box class). My students made 4 different boxes (only 3 pictured here as one of my samples used products from the upcoming mini). I really love the mini milk carton, I have decided I am going to make them up for Josh's birthday for lolly bags (have also planned what I am doing for one of the kids October birthdays also.)

I am a visual learner, so along with the written instructions, in my box classes students also recieve templates with measurements etc. so they can easily recreate the projects again and again.

SAM challenge #6

Welcome to another Stamp-a-memory challenge. The sixth S.A.M creative challenge is set by design team member, Sue Madex and is to scrap a layout on the theme of gratitude "I am grateful for..."

Layout is actually a dress shape. Photo taken on basic grey cardstock background as it was better looking than my carpet. When creating the design for the dress I tried to base it off the original dress pattern, see photo further down.

'Six years separate two sisters wearing the same dress on the front porch of their childhood home. I love that mum dressed us both in the little white lacy dress and took photos as a keepsake of us both at the same age. Most of all, I am grateful to own the exact dress worn in these photos. It's a shame I never thought of putting my girls in the same dress and repeating it for another generation'

I got a copy of Scrapbook Creations issue 76 in the mail this week and I had one of my cards published in it. Unfortunately, I can't show you the card published but the cover does look like this. I was supposed to have another in there also but I am not sure what happened. Maybe, I'll get a surprise in a future issue.

CASEd wedding card

Lori Schuch had a template on her blog recently of a wedding card and I fell in love with it. My chiropractor got married very recently and I hadn't seen her until today to give her the card I made. Mine is almost the same as Lori's with a few tiny alterations. I used ribbon for the bow tie instead of cardstock and made a flower for the 'groom' to wear. Steph, my chrio, loved it (but I think she personally loved the one I made for her engagement better as I had all the kids sign it including Bella who told me what she did.)

Here is my take on Lori's card.
