Christmas card album tutorial

I have just finished writing up a pdf of instructions for a Christmas card album tutorial I posted over at Stampamemory. (Hence my lack of creations for the past few days). Read below for details regarding my PDF tutorial.

Have you ever wondered what to do with your pile of Christmas cards once all the Christmas festivities are over? Well, I have a solution to that problem.  I have a tutorial available for purchase that allows you to keep all the Christmas cards, photos and newsletters all in one place that is easy to go back and look at, year after year. Introducing Stampamemory

This is the secret squirrel stuff I alluded to in this post...

Myself, Claire Daly, Miriam Thomas, Di Gill, Sue Madex and Tanja Westwood are all part of the Stampamemory team. My upline, Claire Daly organised it and it is an fantastic idea. Spring card tutorial

As mentioned in my previous MMM post here is the tutorial for the spring card I made. If you recieve my newsletter, you will have also seen another spring card that is featured only in my September newsletter.

Download Spring card template

Start with a piece of cardstock (or patterned paper) 4" x 8"

Score at 2" and 4"

Score on the diagnol at 6" down to 2" on both sides to create a "x"

Trim away 2 triangles from 6" to 8" to create pointed top

P.S. The card in my newsletter is bigger than the sample I made for MMM #15. I used a 5" x 10" sheet of cardstock and it doens't fit into the standard C6 Stampin' Up! envelopes.

Christmas tree tutorial

Today I am posting a tutorial to make the Christmas tree I made in Making Merry Monday #6. I have recieved comments about it and even a phone call asking for the steps so here we go

I have made another card (as I had to do some steps for the tutorial). This one I have blinged it up a little with some dazzling diamonds and also made it a "girly" Christmas card if there is such a thing.

Ink & spray tutorial

Materials required:

    Glossy cardstock ($9.50 pg. 130)

    Spray bottle of water

    Ink refills ($5.95 each pg’s 126-129)

 

Step 1

Drip several drops of the reinker onto glossy cardstock.

Step 2

Repeat using remaining reinker colours

Step 3

Spray glossy cardstock and watch reinker drops spread and set aside to dry.

Once dry, stamp chosen stamp onto glossy cardstock on your own handmade background paper.

Variations:

-      spray glossy cardstock before adding drips of reinkers. (Varies the intensity of the overall colours). Yesterdays post used this version of the technique http://rosdavidson.typepad.com/ros_davidson_live_life_an/2009/06/monthly-card-sketch.html

-      use watercolour paper ($13.50 pg. 130) in place of glossy cardstock & spray paper before dripping reinkers (end up with a mutted version that blends nicely and can look similar to a sunset if the reds, oranges are used)

Sunny Boy tutorial

The sunny boy tutorial is finally here. I have been busy moving my study/craft room around with my daughter’s bedroom the last few days. It involved packing up the cot, moving two beds, two desks, a load of craft stuff and there is still more to be moved. Nothing urgent though as it is all done. Plus I need a trip to Ikea before I can move anything more. I have left my big expedia unit in the girls room for books, toys, clothes etc. so I have to go and buy myself a new one. I am loving my new room though, it just needs it finishing touches and it will be perfect. So that is my lousy excuse for taking so long to post the tutorial. To top it all off, I never even took photos during the day when there was better light, I took only a few hours ago.

1.       Take a piece of 6 x 6 DSP. (I have used a piece of retired fall flowers DSP from 2008/2009 IB&C)

2.       Score at 0.5” from the two ends. In this example, I scored one end at 1” as I wanted a larger fold over. (Will be explained further on)

3.       Apply sticky strip at one scored end (in this case my 0.5” end) and another strip on the other side of the square creating a “L” shape

 

4.       Remove sticky stripe from the section with the two vertical score lines

5.       Roll into a tube and adhere. (I find rolling around a cylinder object helps!)

6.       Remove sticky strip from the other end and flatten using a bone folder (try to make sure the join in not exactly in the middle

 

7.       Flatten the opposite end with your bone folder, this time at right angles to your other side.

   

8.       Join ends with sticky strip (and  your sunny boy container can’t be used again) OR snip either side of the sunny boy container on the ends up to the score line. Fold DSP over to create a co-ordinating pattern. Punch holes in either end using crop-o-dile and thread ribbon through holes

9.       Make a tag and thread through ribbon if desired

10.   Tie off ribbon and fill with goodies to surprise someone with

Materials list

Stamps: Think happy thoughts ($29.95 pg. 96)

Cardstock: Old olive, really rust ($14.50 earth elements multipack or $10.50 each individual colour pg. 128), soft sky (retried 2008/2009 in colour)

DSP: Fall flowers (retired 2008/2009)

Ink: Basic black & really rust ($11.95 pg’s. 127-128)

Punches: scallop circle punch, 1 ¼” & 1 3/8” circle (all $30.95 each pg. 152)

Other: Sticky strip ($12.95 pg. 154), old olive 5/8” grosgrain ribbon ($14.95 pg. 151)

Convention swaps tutorial

Here are the swaps I made for convention. I didn’t swap as many as I would have liked as these are the second swaps I made. The first set was 95% finished and the kids moved the stamp I was using. It has still yet to be found... Grrr...  

So take two. These are ATC’s made using punch art. I didn’t finish them all as I was sick but have managed to swap a few since being home on the various forums I visit.

  

Materials list

Cardstock: Blush Blossom

DSP: Kiwi Kiss

Ink: Blush Blossom, Kiwi Kiss

Punches: Word window, 3/4" & 1" circles

Other: 1/4" white grosgrain ribbon, gold brad

Follow the step by step instructions to recreate

1.       Cut blush blossom cardstock to 3.5” x 2.5”

2.       Ink edges using sponge dauber and blush blossom ink (optional)

3.       Punch 3 half circles using the ¾” circle punch, one for the neckline and two for the body curves

4.       Pierce hole in cardstock for belly ring and fix gold brad in position

5.       Cut 1” x 2.5” piece of DSP (designer series paper) for underwear

6.       Punch out two ¼ leg holes using ¾” circle punch out of DSP cut to size

7.       Punch out 2 word windows of DSP and trim in half

8.       Punch out 2, 1” circles of DSP

9.       Ink edges of all punched DSP (optional)

10.   Adhere underwear in place at base of ATC

11.   Adhere 2 of the 4 bra straps in place either side of the neck

12.   Adhere last 2 bra straps in place above body curves

13.   Adhere 2, 1” circles in place to finish off the bra

14.   Adhere a bow made from ¼” grosgrain ribbon to complete ATC

Mother's day card

So I have jumped on the band wagon and made some flower pot cards for my mum and MIL for mother’s day. See below for my brief steps to making your own.

 

 Materials list

Cardstock: Close to Cocoa, Very Vanilla, Old Olive, Ballet Blue

Ink: Close to Cocoa, Chocolate Chi, Versamark

Other: Cuttlebug, clear buttons, DMC cotton, corner rounder, 5 flower petal punch, die cut blooms, 5 /8” grosgrain ribbon

 

Additional supplied used for second flower pot card

Flower fusion, fire rhinestone brads, old olive 5/8” grosgrain ribbon, kiwi kiss cardstock

Steps...

Start with close to cocoa cardstock, 9” long x 3.5” wide

Score at 2” & 5.5”

Measure in ¾” and mark on both sides at flower pot base.

Cut away angled area to give flower pot its base shape

Use scallop border punch to create scallop on 2” overlap

Run through Cuttlebug, if desired

Ink edges with close to cocoa ink, if desired

Adhere ribbon to flower pot. (Ribbon holds flower pot closed and holds message inside)

Cut 4.5” x 2” very vanilla cardstock

Round corners if desired

Adhere flowers from die cut blooms sheet and 5 flower petal punch and sew clear buttons in flower centres

Punch out 5 flower petal punch in old olive cardstock and trim to create “leaves” and adhere in place

Slip tag into pocket after writing message on it.

Stamp “Happy Mother’s Day” from Occasional Greetings stamp set in chocolate chip inkpad followed by versamark. Emboss with clear embossing powder and heat set

Round corners of mother’s day tag and adhere in place on front of flower pot.

Convention wrap up is still coming. While I felt better today, I penned the instructions for this card and took photos...
