Sale-a-bration blog hop

It's time for the sale-a-bration blog hop. This month I have made a couple of cards. I was blog surfing on fellow team member Christine Blain's blog recently and found a tip that she read on Dawn Olchefske's blog. I love that the blossom bouquet triple layer punch co-ordinates with a FREE stamp in the fresh vintage stamp set from the sale-a-bration brochure. I've used the tip today on one of my cards. It's such a great idea isn't it?

I've also used the curly label punch to punch out the middle of a stamp from the "Elementary elegance" stamp set. Did you know that in all Stampin' Up! catalogues if there is an outlined image around a stamp it means it coordinates with a punch? Stampin' Up! make it so easy for us!

Wedding card

I was on a Stampin' Up! forum recently and we were discussing crystal effects, a fellow demo mentioned how her bottle gets "gunked" in the nozzle. I shared my tip of storing it upside down. It no longer required me to "unplug" the bottle with a pin each time I wish to use it and the crystal effects is quick to flow out of the bottle. While I was on said forum, I saw a stunning creation by Sandra Collett and CASED it quick smart.

Swiped ink

I am calling today's card the swiped ink card. (Totally a technique I just made up! LOL) I embossed my peach parfait cardstock using the elegant lines textured embossing folder and ran my whisper white craft inkpad over the embossed lines.I love the little extra pop it gives the textured cardstock.

Top note flap card

A recent find on my blog reads was a top note flap card by Julie Davison. I love that it is yet ANOTHER way to use the fabulous and exclusive Stampin' Up! top note die.

Finished card also fits wonderfully in the square medium envelopes (AUD $10.95 for 20 envelopes) on page 126 of the catalogue.

SAM challenge #14

We are back with SAM challenges! This month's challenge is to create a layout using the sketch below designed by Becky Fleck of Page Maps.

I personally found it hard to get started as I haven't done much scrapbooking for a while and with a much smaller stash of designer series paper than I am used to it certainly made it more challenging. I am anxiously awaiting my new catalogue order with is chock full of new papers, new in color products, ribbons and stamps!

Here is my layout:

 The "pull" tab with the extra photos

For my title, I used the timeless type alphabet for the big shot machine and cut the extra "tabs" off the letters. It gives a whole new look to the alphabet for no extra cost! I love this idea and also used it the other day on my milk carton featured on the stampamemory site.

S.A.M creative challenge #1

Here is my Christmas layout for the very first ever S.A.M (Stamp-a-memory) creative challenge.

I have used only ONE Christmas stamp on this two page layout. The first person to comment with the correct stamp set will win some blog candy of *retired* designer flower brads from the 2009 Summer Mini Catalogue!

I am really loving how I have thought a little out of the "square" for this page. The "bow" is actually on the outside of the page protector and the "page tabs" are also. Not to mention, the layout is actually a two pager but with the second page on the back of the first instead of the usual "double page spread".

Every birthday and Christmas (well, I do my best to keep it up to date) I keep a record of what the children received from family as gifts. My mother did this when I was a child and I love to keep the tradition going. In doing this layout, I transfered my handwritten notes to a typed document on the computer and as I was typing the "clothes" description, in my mind I could picture the outfit. I am totally loving that I kept small details like that and didn't just write "received clothes".

MMM #18 & September ribbon promotion sample

Well it's Monday again so time for another Making Merry Monday. If this card looks a little familiar to you, it is because it is practically a case from the Stampin' Up! 2008/2009 catalogue. I had an old catalogue that was showing some wear and tear so I tore out the images of the stamp sets I own (especially) the ideas and I store them with the respective stamp sets.

I was orginally creating another card for today, but it turned out to be a disaster... As I was using the "all spruced up" tree from Fun & Fast notes, the catalogue clipping caught my eye from the stamp container and well, here we are...

I have also used one of the September promotion ribbons that you get for free when you purchase $100 worth of product or host a $600 workshop.

Differences between scallop & eyelet border punches

Recently I was asked the differences between the scallop and eyelet border punches. As the customer asking had an e-mail address I quickly whipped up this sample to show her. I thought my readers might like to see the differences between the two as I think it shows up better in my photo than in the catalogue.

 

 The scallop border punch is the one of the left and the eyelet border punch is on the right. Both punches are $30.95. There is a trick to using the punches. When you begin punching your cardstock, line the cardstock so that it has even space on both the left and right sides using the measurement guides. This is so when you have finished you will end up with scallops even at both ends.

Layout #1 (from the beach)

Nat likes to say I get a bee in my bonnet and have to do things "NOW"... Today was no exception. My mum helped me move a spare cupboard in the rumpus room which was full of "stuff" to put the spare mattress behind it. (The kids were climbing behind in and bending it over and putting dirty footprints all over the wall). Anyway, to move the cupboard we had to empty a portion of it. Since it was half empty I decided that my linen would be better in this cupboard as my linen press is "teeny tiny". About numerous trips from one end of my house to another I was done. Now my linen press looks way tidier and has a system to it...

Anyway, I haven't been creating of late as I have been busy doing things like that and dealing with the children... Tomorrow is my birthday and I have been getting extra things ready today so I don't have to do them tomorrow.

Okay, I am finally ready to share some of the stuff I made at the beach in the holidays. Of course I am going to draw it out and take my time. LOL

 

I realised after I had finished this layout that the photo was a little crocked. Oh well, I am not going to attempt to pull it off now and ruin the paper... Drew telling me he is a cool dude wearing Nikki's sunglasses.

Tip: To colour the chipboard letters I used a sponge dauber and whisper white ink refill and applied crystal effects once dry.
