SAM challenge #22 - Photo inspiration

This month for our challenge over at Stamp-a-memory we all used a photo as inspiration for a layout.

 

I used the colours red, black and white and the flowers from the shirt as my starting point. My layout is one I made to give to my mum for mothers day. It co-ordinates with a 3d frame I made her last year, click here to see it. Some of the kids answers were the same and others showed they had grown in the past 12 months.

 

Materials list:

Stamps: Simply said, occasional greetings

Inkpads: Real red, versamark

Cardstock: Basic black, whisper white

Accessories: Black embossing powder, clear embossing powder, stampin' write markers

Red challenge

This months challenge over at Stampamemory is to scrap a layout with the focus on the colour RED.

With the colour red in mind, my mind drifted towards the photos I had taken for my December Daily album. I know I haven't shared any of my other pages yet, as it is totally a work in progress and a slow one at that, but this photo screamed cherry cobbler to me. Of course it may have had something to do with the colour of the Puffing Billy carriage.

 
As I mentioned, this is part of a my December Daily album (6 x 8 layouts) and I have also taken pictures of the other things I am including between the 13th and the 14th of December spread...

On a final note for this blog , remember to back up your photos (and files often). I had a huge scare today. My external hard drive was saying it needed formatting before I could add anything. I was going into meltdown because all my photos are stored on there along with some dvd's in various spots. Needless to say, I spent a good portion of day backing my photos up onto my other external hard drive that was sitting here unused and also onto dvd's to store at my dad's house. I still have another batch of dvd's I want to burn to keep at mum's as well so I should have at least 4 copies of my photos in case anything happens to them. (I keep the current year and the two years prior to that on my desktop computer also).

Stamp-a-memory sketch challenge

It's Stamp-a-memory challenge time again (first Monday each month). challenge is to create a layout using the sketch below designed by Becky Fleck of Page Maps.

 

Having not done a "real" later for awhile, it took me a long time to get back into it... LOL, but I love the challenge of crafting... unfortunately my layout is not complete. I had another bout of coughing fits last night that I haven't had for a while and on top of my sprained rib cage, I thought it was best to come back to my layout later and rest up for the time being.

Gifted Stamp-a-memory challange

Challenge time over at Stamp-a-memory. Criteria this month is to create a gift (including photos) or scrap a layout about a gift.

I was wracking my brain for ages until I remembered a decoration my mum made for our neighbours years ago. It was a decoration that was made basically from old Christmas cards cut into circles.

Using the idea, I made two versions, one just like my mum made all those years ago with Christmas cards and the other by stamping and making my own paper. Both versions have a photo of a child wearing a Christmas hat as they are thank you gifts for them to give to their teachers on the last day of school/kinder.

On the back of the photo it says "thank you for helping me grow this year" the child's name (in their handwriting) and 2010

Cardstock: Whisper white

Stampamemory challenge #16

With today being the begining of a new month it's also time for another Stampamemory challenge. For our November challenge we are using the below image for inspiration.

 

For regular readers, you'll know I have pulled out of a few things of late due to my wrist surgery and ... this is another one. I still have some pain and not full movement but also have no mojo! So annoying! On a positive note, maybe I'll found my mojo in a box Stampin' Up! Will be delivering to me (hopefully) later this week. As a Stampin' Up! Demonstrator we get to pre order products from new catalogues and I had a little shop and ordered some product from the summer mini catalogue (goes live December 1st.) Stampamemory, challenge #15

New month and challenge time again over at Stampamemory. This month our challenge is to scraplift a layout from our blog. I choose to scraplift Tanja Westwood's layout, 20 photos. Not only is an amazing scrapbooker who can fit so much onto a layout without it looking cluttered (something I struggle with at times) but is an amazing friend who I am excited to try and scraplift from.

My take on it

In scraplifting Tanja's layout, I used 20 photos like she did along with crumb cake cardstock and ribbon running across the width of the layout.

My "2009 highlights" layout is an opening page for a 2009 in review album I am creating (I know, we are getting quite close to the end of 2010 and I am a bit late starting this one!!!) I kept a detailed calender in 2009 of our family events and activities. Along with quotes from my children and their measurements each quarter I plan to use all of the information I saved to create monthly pages with more photos of our lives in 2009.
